Filipino Outdoor Games That Never Die

Tumbang Preso, Holen, Ten Twenty, Luksong Lubid, Luksong Tinik, Luksong Baka, Chinese Garter,  Sungka, Tagu-taguan, Langit Lupa, Saranggola, Patintero, Piko, Trumpo – some of the many Filipino outdoor games that never die

When I was young, my friends and I would meet outside every night to play Tagu-taguan (players will hide while the tag counts 1-10. When all are hidden, he will have to look for them. The first one he finds will be the next tag [taya in tagalog]). Also, we would amuse ourselves with Multu-multuhan (we will gather inside a vacant jeepney then the tag/ghost player will try to reach every member through the windows and the door. The next person he comes in contact with will replace him as the ghost).

Who would forget POG? I even have play sets for my best POG, those I don’t really like and those I don’t want to bet in. :D

But I wouldn’t trade in anything for my text cards. My all-time favorite “pamato” is John Dillinger because it makes me win-almost all the time! :)

How about you? What’s your favorite childhood Filipino outdoor game?
