News: Checking of ICC Stickers on Helmets Implemented

A few days after we celebrated the coming of 2013, many motorcycle vehicles were apprehended because their helmets does not have Philippine Standard (PS) mark or the Imported Commodity Clearance (ICC). The Land Transportation Office (LTO )has been very strict as many were caught violating  Republic Act 10054 or the Motorcycle Helmet Act

According to the Motorcycle Helmet Act, the following fines will be enforced to the offenders regardless if they are driving in a short distance or such:

  • 1st offense – P1,500
  • 2nd offense – P3,000
  • 3rd offense – P5,000
  • Succeeding offenses- P10,000 + Confiscation of driver’s license

This is just a way of protecting riders from accidents by having substandard helmets. Other sellers, however, take advantage of the situation by selling quality helmets at a higher price.
