Isang Litrong Liwanag: Lighting Up Homes in the Payatas Community

For most of us living in the comfort of the city, there are still others who were not able to have a chance to even have their house lighted. In the heart of Quezon City lies a shanty town in need of our help to bring at least a glimmer of light and hope in their homes. Filipinos are all aware of the Payatas Community, right? The former garbage disposal area located in the 2nd district of the City.

Isang Litrong Liwanag Campaign has been organized by MyShelter Foundation to help the people bring sustainable and green lighting technology in their houses. How? Let’s watch this:

Last July 2, 2011, Isang Litrong Liwanag project held up an activity to arrow one goal: Light up thousands of home in the Payatas community. The press visited the humble abodes – with improvised address plaques - and saw how life goes for the families. Volunteers were assigned different tasks from organizing the materials, drilling of holes in the roof, up to the actual installation. The efforts of the community, together with the members of the media and other corporate partners gave hope to the once dark town.
